Harbor offers free workshops and classes, facilitated by Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) that teach caregivers about principles of behavior, teaching and reinforcing skills, and maintaining safety.

Increasing Independence

• How to help caregivers reduce prompts for task completion
• How to create opportunities for clients to practice skills more independently
• How to support individuals efforts to be more independent

Understanding Behavior (6-Week Series)

For Caregivers of all Harbor individuals

  • Why tantrums, aggression, and other undesired/unsafe behaviors occur
  • How to respond to these behaviors
  • How to reinforce desired behaviors and teach new behaviors

There will be six sessions held once a week beginning Wednesday, July 17, 2024, and ending on Wednesday, August 21, 2024.  These sessions will be held for two hours each session via Zoom.

Parent Mentor Program

A service for Parents & Caregivers

Harbor Regional Center (HRC) has a Parent Mentor Program to support parents and caregivers  to navigate systems and programs that serve individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities, such as IHSS, SSI, MediCal, etc. The Parent Mentor can assist by providing step-by-step assistance with accessing services and supports. The Parent Mentor also assists with building a stronger connection between the individual served/family and their HRC team.
