Statutory Requirement to Obtain an Independent Audit or Independent Review Report of Financial Statements

In 2011, Section 4652.5 was added to the Welfare and Institutions Code requiring an independent auditing firm for an audit or review report of their financial statements.

DDS Dashboard – Regional Centers

The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) monitors the performance of regional centers to ensure they uphold the values of the Lanterman Act and meet obligations outlined in DDS contracts, state law and regulations. National Core Indicators (NCI)

The National Core Indicators (NCI) Survey is used by the California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) to assess performance in services and supports provided to people with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD). The NCI survey has been used in California since 2010 as a requirement by the Welfare and Institutions Code, Section 4571 to implement a nation-wide quality assessment survey.

The Lanterman Act (Section 4519.5 of the Welfare and Institutions Code) requires all regional centers to provide a report of our expenditures across identified demographic groups of our clients (eg by disability, by age, by race or ethnicity, or by language). HRC has collaborated with the Department of Developmental Services to prepare this report. Included at the beginning of this report is a summary of limitations related to this data.
