Person-Centered Thinking (PCT)

Person Centered Thinking and Person Centered Planning

Person Centered Thinking puts you and your circle of support at the center of everything that we do at Harbor. It is a set of principles and approaches that recognize you as the expert in your life. Person Centered Planning equally emphasizes your quality of life, wellbeing, and ability to make informed choice.

Why does Harbor use Person-Centered Thinking?

We use Person Centered Thinking and values at Harbor because we believe everyone should be treated with dignity and respect. We believe that every person we serve has unique gifts, talents, skills, and contributions. Our goal is to provide you with the knowledge to make informed decisions and find supports to help you get closer to the life you choose.

Through our 2023-2026 Strategic Plan, we have begun working towards becoming a more person-centered organization.

Since the implementation of our Strategic Plan, we have accomplished:

The Community of Practice and Its Purpose

In partnership with Helen Sanderson Associates, Harbor is launching our Community of Practice (CoP). A Community of Practice is a welcoming space for anyone in the Harbor community to learn, share ideas, and build partnerships.

Our Purpose

Harbor Regional Center’s Community of Practice (CoP) will create a diverse and inclusive forum to share knowledge, model learning, and engrain person-centered practices that promote positive changes in people and processes. We are a forward thinking group interested in creating meaningful and sustainable change using person centered practices.
