Emergency Preparedness

Launched in February 2003, Ready is a National public service campaign designed to educate and empower the American people to prepare for, respond to and mitigate emergencies and disasters.

There are several resources available on their website that will help you prepare for any hazard, emergency, or disaster, especially if you or someone you support has a disability.

Your energy company may need to shut off power during extreme wildfire conditions to keep the community safe.

This is a Public Safety Power Shutoff, or PSPS and it is a tool of last resort to protect our communities from the threat of wildfire. You can find local programs or resources near you to prepare for your needs that rely on electricity.

California’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) administers this service that sends wireless emergency alerts to mobile devices.

Receiving timely alerts can help you prepare or can be used to warn you to act in the event of an imminent threat or emergency like earthquakes or wild fires.

You can sign up for the Earthquake warning app at their website, other alerts are automatic.
