Parent and Family Support Groups Offered by HRC

At HRC, Parent and Family Support Groups offer informative presentations, lively discussions, and of course the opportunity to get to know other parents and families. The following groups are offered at HRC and facilitated by HRC staff members.

Parenting Connections Support Group

For parents of HRC clients looking to meet other parents who have a son or daughter of any age and any type of developmental disability. This group meets two Monday nights a month from 6-7:30PM via Zoom.

Black/African American Family Support Group

For parents of HRC clients who want to connect with other African American families. Open to families with children of all ages and diagnoses.

Southeast Family Resource Center Parent Educational Support Group

For parents of children birth to 36 months.  Meets at Bethany Manor Development and Learning Center, 15415 S Pioneer Blvd, Norwalk, CA 90650.

Support Group & Resources for Families of Children with Special Needs

This group meets the fourth Thursday of every Month, 4:00-5:00 PM, 911 North Avalon Blvd Wilmington, CA 90744.

Korean Parent Group

This group meets the fourth Thursday, 6:30 PM- 8:30 PM via zoom. Contact Taejong Min at (310) 792-4542.

Outside of HRC, the Korean American Special Education Center (KASEC) offers a variety of training and support activities.

Chinese-Speaking Family Support Group

For parents of HRC clients who want to connect with other parents who speak Mandarin. Open to families with children of all ages and diagnoses.  Meets on the third Tuesday of the month, from 1:00 PM-3:00 PM via zoom.

Sibling Club

Groups for siblings age 6-16 of HRC clients. Days and times vary by the age of the participants. For more information, please contact your HRC Service Coordinator.

Groups for Spanish-Speaking Families

Unidad y Fuerza, se reúne el cuarto miércoles del mes de 6 PM- 8 PM via ZOOM con excepción de noviembre, lo trasladamos al tercer miércoles. No hay reuniones en los meses de Julio o Agosto.

Un Grupo Para Abogar Por Si Mismo,  Este grupo de apoyo es para familias de habla Hispana que tienen un niño/a con necesidades especiales o están a riesgo de tener una necesidad especial. Nuestra misión es apoyar, apoderar y educar a las familias sobre servicios disponibles.

Se reúne en el primer jueves de cada mes, de 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM via zoom.
