Every person who is interested in the Self-Determination Program must attend an initial SDP orientation that meets standards set by the Department.  The Department contracts with the State Council on Developmental Disabilities to provide SDP orientations.  The Department plans to offer orientation through one or more state-wide entities in the future. You also may attend an orientation offered by your regional center.  In addition to the initial orientation, more in-depth training about the Self-Determination Program will be offered by the SCDD in the following areas: Person-Center Planning, Individual Budgets, Spending Plan, Arranging Services and Enrollment.
