The Lanterman Act and the Early Intervention Services Act are California state laws that govern all services provided by the regional centers.
Significant changes to these laws were enacted by the California legislature, through the state budget process*, and became effective July 2009. (*These changes are sometimes referred to as "Trailer Bill Language" due to the way that the changes to the law were put into place as a trailer to the 2009-1020 Budget Act).
The Lanterman Act and Early Intervention Services Act supercede regional center service policies.
HRC is currently in the process of carefully reviewing our service policies for needed modifications consistent with changes to these laws.
