Harbor Regional Center is committed to realizing positive outcomes for people with developmental disabilities. In furtherance of this overall goal, we have adopted the following direction for services and supports for our clients and families. All new resource development shall be consistent with these priorities.
Harbor Regional Center promotes services and supports that are provided in settings that are small, individualized, integrated and inclusive.
· HRC believes that children should be served in natural environments.
· HRC is committed to assuring that every client who wants a job should have a meaningful and fulfilling job, earning reasonable wages, with our help and ongoing individual support as long as needed.
· For those clients who choose not to work, or are not able to do so, HRC believes that they should have opportunities :
o to participate in activities, services and supports that are based on individual needs, interests, and preferences.
o to engage in productive and purposeful activities of their choice that result in increased skills, or are rehabilitative/ therapeutic in nature.
o to be involved in activities alongside non-disabled citizens.
· HRC believes that adult clients who want to live on their own should have access to stable, affordable housing, with ongoing support as long as needed.
· For our clients who live in group homes, HRC promotes access to homes that serve a maximum of 4 or fewer people, who are afforded individual privacy.
Harbor Regional Center continues our commitment to keeping our clients and families informed regarding resource options, and to supporting them in making choices according to their individual needs.
