The following books and videos which are available in the HRC Resource Center contain current information for parents and caregivers of people with disabilities.  Many other books and videos are available for check-out in the resource center.

This book provides step-by-step process often illustrated with charts, question lists, and visual aids, it will assist professional in assessing children, planning  positive behavior support based interventions, and implementing support plans.


Good Kids, Difficult Behavior: A Guide to What Works and What Doesn't
, by Joyce Divinyi, M.S., L.P.C.
This book presents simple, effective tools for understanding difficult behavior and changing it through preparation and response.


Challenging Child: How to Understand, Raise, and Enjoy Your "Difficult Child"

This video provides information on what to expect from a parent training course in behavior management offered by Harbor Regional Center. 

Discipline, by T. Berry Brazelton, M.D.
In this video Dr. Brazelton shows parents that setting limits is not punishment.  Discipline is a loving way to teach children how to control their own behavior.
