"...support, information, and choices..."

The Resource Library has literally thousands of books, pamphlets, videos and DVDs, journals, brochures, audiotapes, software and multimedia items for you to use on-site or to check out and take home.

Many of our materials are available in languages other than English. We are constantly updating our resources to provide you the most current and comprehensive information on individual disabilities, as well as a wealth of related topics.  If you are interested in some of our selected titles, please refer to our selected bibliographies.  You can click on some of the links and be directed to the Barnes and Noble website to purchase the items.  If you purchase an item in this manner, a percentage of the proceeds will be donated to Harbor Regional Center.

Browse our on-line catalog to find materials on whatever topics interest you.  You may use a key word search, or search by subject or author.

Hours of Operation
We are open to assist you in the HRC Resource Center at the following times.

Long Beach Branch
Our Resource Center Long Beach Branch, at the HRC Long Beach Training site, houses a large selection of materials on early intervention and developmental disabilities.

Checking Out Items
All HRC clients, families of clients and HRC staff have no expense for checking out items from the Resource Library, except for overdue fines, if applicable. All others have an annual fee of $25 to assist in covering the cost of maintaining the collection. If you are a student with a valid student's ID, you may opt for a student membership. You will not have to apply for the annual membership but you will have to place a $10 deposit on each item.

Returning Items
We have drop boxes for your convenience. One is located in Long Beach at the HRC Training Center, 1155 E. San Antonio Drive, Suite #B. It is just to the left of the front door to Suite B. The drop box in Torrance is located between the two buildings, a few feet to the left of the steps as you walk up to go into the reception/lobby courtyard area.

On-Line Catalog
The HRC Resource Center maintains an On-Line Catalog of our materials that you can access from home or any computer that has Internet access. You can search by subject, author, title, or key word.

Toy lay works to stimulate cognitive, motor, and language development. The HRC Resource Center hosts a toy lending library with a range of developmental toys available for check-out. Some of the toys can be, and already are, adapted to be used with switch; switches are also available for check-out.

Meet the Staff
The staff of the HRC Resource Center includes parents of HRC clients, HRC adult clients and extended family members.
